Message from the GP Administrator, Bob
Smith: Happy New Year chess fans! On behalf of the New Zealand Chess
Federation, I am delighted to attach the rules for this year's Myer Tan NZ
Chess Grand Prix. The support of the Myer and Tan families (who also sponsor
Australia's chess grand prix) has enabled NZCF to raise prize-money this year
to over $6000, with plenty of incentive in every division. The first events
in the 2012 GP are the Queenstown Classic (January 15 to 23), the New Zealand
Rapid Championships (Auckland, January 28 and 29) and the Bay of Plenty Rapid
(Mt Maunganui, February 25). Details and entry forms for all three tournaments
can be found here. This will be my 10th year as
Grand Prix Administrator; please help me retain my enthusiasm for the task by
reading the rules and doing your bit to keep me properly informed of upcoming
tournaments, results and player details. I wish you all another fascinating
year of chess and hope you all support the Myer Tan NZ Chess Grand Prix and
enjoy the competition it provides. Yours for chess, Bob Smith
