The Oceania Zonal is an official FIDE qualifying
tournament for the World Championship. As such, under FIDE regulations, there
is a unique opportunity for players to win a prestigious international title
from this one single event.
4.5 points = FM or WFM; 6 points = IM or
WIM
Candidate master titles (C, WC) may also be awarded.
Under FIDE regulations for sub-Zonals run as swiss-system events, the
maximum number of titles that can be awarded, without the prior approval of the
Joint Chairmen of the Titles Commission, is 1xIM, 2xFM, 1xWIM and 2xWFM.
Therefore some titles may be decided on tie-breaks, which will be noted in due
course under Tournament Regulations. |
